My sil tells me that her 7 yo autistic ds is doing well and will be "declassified" soon. I had read that that is almost unheard of. How is this possible? Do you know of others who have successfully done this?

declassified just means the board of ed. no longer feels services are needed. That doesn't mean the disabiltiy is gone,and sometimes they are wrong anyway. I know in the autism world parents love to be declassified b/c it represents real progress. But in the LD world we live in fear of being declassified b/c our kids are still dyslexic and ADD and need support. SO its often a question of perspective.
