my 6 week old has reflux (spits-ups all the time and is fussy to say the least). the doctor prescribed zantac but I am really hesitant to go there (he said the baby will eventually outgrow it). anyone with experience here?
7 replies [ Reply | Watch | Options ]you can hold off but watch very closely for the signs of it getting worse and not improving. I ignored for my #2 and it got to the point where he wouldn't eat unless asleep - they learn that food hurts. We ended up being on pepcid for 3(!) months. Now it is all good and gone but one month was so miserable...
[ Reply | Options ]yes. are you bfing? we wanted to avoid drugs unless absolutely necessary. so i completely changed my diet: avoided anything with milk, soy, tomato or anything acidy like citric acid. the milk's the biggest. within 24hrs of taking out anything milk (read labels, it's in ALOT of stuff) she was like a completely different baby. ifyou're ffing try a non-dairy formula. some reflux babies are fine with soy so you can try that first. its hard at first adjusting to the diet but it also helps get off the baby weight! GL whatever you decide
