I need feedback/support on this issue: I am a first time mom with a 22-month old. The only family nearby are our inlaws. My mother-in-law still works full-time and she basically never comes to visit us and see her grandchild (it is about a 35-40 minute trip). She wants us to periodically haul over to her house for a Sunday dinner (Sunday night not a good time for any of us, dc and dh tired/need rest). My dc does not know who she is because she rarely sees her and cries hysterically as my mother in law does NOT STOP approaching her instead of giving her space. My mother in -law does NOTHING to help us. I know this is her choice and her right, I am just mentioning it. When we were there for dinner last SUnday, dc was very hungry and crying non-stop and we asked for an early dinner plate. She responded with "I am going to feed all of the guests now" and the proceeded to feed other people first.
