  • I hate Friday nights. It used to represent endless possibilities. It now represents the guarantee that my husband will be exhausted and miserable from the work week, will drink too much and go to bed angry or sad. I just dodge and weave. I don't miss going out, but this sucks.

    • Yes, I am single mom, and it is the beginning of 2 lonely days, where no friends want to get together because they are experiencing domestic married bliss. I wish I knew more in my situation.

    • I too am the single mom. Youngest dc is 2 and doesn't stay overnight with daddy on the weekends yet. I haven't had a night out in forever, or even anyone interested in having a night out with me. :(

        • Have you resorted to match.com? A few friends are pushing for it, even said if I had a match they'd babysit for free. It just seems awkward though.

          • I don't know. I went on and looked at it a year ago, and every one of the guys I thought sounded nice at the time are still unattached and playing the field when I looked last week. All seems a bit creepy. But what is the alternative? I am not sure if I even can face another relationship anyway.

            • I don't think any guys sound nice anymore. I think my marriage ruined me. I will never trust another guy again...I just hope my ds doesn't grow up to be so evil.

              • If your DS senses that you don't trust me he will become able to trust too. While there are a lot of awful men out there, there are some great ones too. I wouldn't close the door to your heart just yet. Don't let this one bad relationship ruin the rest of your life.

    • I have 3 kids, 7,3 and 6 month. I used to entertain a lot, prior to having kids, and as you all know kids put a damper on fancy dinners with menus planned 2 days ahead. So about 2 years ago I started a new tradition. I get home from work on Friday around 5pm, and my 7 yr old and now my 3 yr old start baking. I send out an email blast to all friends/family/neighbors inviting them over for "Sweet Friday" people reply with number of people coming and we have dessert/coffee/tea/drinks, etc. If the dessert of the week does not come out well, there is always ice cream in the freezer. Let's everyone unwind in good company and catch up on the weeks events. Kids play in the family room, adults hang out in the dining room. It has been a hit.
