  • Anyone ever dye their hair from bright blonde to dark blonde/light brown? no time/extra money to get to the salon before vacation this weekend and roots are BAD! my natural color is dark blonde, looking to get closer to my natural color. have previously dyed my hair on my own, but never light to dark. any tips?

    • try clairol perfect 10, and go no more than 2 shades darker than your current color. light to dark is much easier to do at home than dark to light.

    • if your hair is highlighted, then dying it at home can be precarious bc highlighted hair is already treated and won't take new color the same way as the untreated hair. so you could end up with a mix of colors on your head. i would be more inclined to go someplace that can sqeeze you in for a quick touch up, then to mess w it at home.

      • not highlighted. Single process, Bleach blonde. Gwen Stefani look. Adorable, but want to stop bleaching it. Every time I go and have my roots done, my lymph nodes swell up to quarters. I'm thinking its not healthy! :-D This doesnt happen with regular color, just the bleach.

          • don't do it...you will end up with ashy hair color or a horrible red. Go to sephora and by an Oscar Blandi highlight pen. It is totally temporary and will get you through vacay.

    • op here: I dyed it! used a semi-permanent though. did it a medium brown, it will fade fast, and hopefully to my natural color, if nothing else, its super shiny and soft! looks good. thanks ladies!
