A Moveable Feast
No matter where you come down on the whole nursing in public debate, given a choice you'd probably prefer not to expose your breasts to the world. But you often don't have another option out in the park, nail salon, or backseat of a cab.
Regain some privacy with the Slurp & Burp, a loop of layered cotton worn like a sash over one shoulder and under the opposite arm. Put it on over your shirt, pull the layers apart so baby can latch on and you're covered. Designed by a busy Brooklyn mom, the product ensures you won't have to hide your baby beneath a blanket (even lightweight material can feel like a sweater on a 90-degree day), invest in lots of (unfashionable) nursing tops or slink off to some dingy restroom to feed your child. Choose from five different striped styles, available with a built-in burp cloth or without.
As long as you live in the city, you'll probably always have to endure disapproving stares. But at least they won't be directed at your bare breast.
Available online at slurpburp.com.
