Party Like It's 1982
Video may have killed the radio star, but it didn't extinguish your inner ‘80s rocker – even after you traded midnight at CBGB for midnight feedings. But if breaking out the INXS tapes now and again or belting out Blondie in the shower isn't quite cutting it, we've got the cure: And yes, it may involve your whole family jamming out to "Just Like Heaven."
Goody Two Shoes is a new company that sponsors kid-friendly retro dance parties around the city. The first event is on September 15 at Crash Mansion on Bowery, just a few blocks from the old CBGB (cue the nostalgia). You and your brood can boogie to punk, alternative ‘80s, new wave and ska beats spun by a DJ, snack, play and do projects together. The festivities last all afternoon, giving you plenty of time to get the little guys into their day-glo jammies and hum "Never Tear Us Apart" as they drift off to sleep.
When: Sat., 9/15, 2-5pm; $15 (free for children under 1).
Where: Crash Mansion, 199 Bowery (at Spring St.), 212-982-0740, goodytwoshoesnyc.com.
