Room Service
A wedding coordinator makes sure the big day goes off without a hitch – no melting ice sculptures, no warring cousins, no missing groom. A little hand holding can go a long way.
That's true for expectant couples, too. Local "baby coordinator" Roselle Hope helps mamas and papas-to-be with everything from baby furniture selection to hospital preparation. Below, Hope offers some tips for getting the nursery ready:
Safety First: Make sure you have working smoke and carbon monoxide detectors in the baby's room. (You'll need to install window guards, too).
Pre-Wash: Wash your baby's clothes and bedding (with a gentle detergent like Dreft) before he uses them, to protect delicate skin.
Space Challenges: Purchase dual-purpose items – a dresser with a top that can be used as a changing table, or a bureau/changing station with a hutch for additional storage.
Size Strategy: Effectively utilize closet space and dresser drawers by displaying only clothing and accessories appropriate for baby's current size. It's no fun scrambling through mounds of clothes to find a newborn onesie when your little guy is squirming on the changing table.
